Our materials are semi-finished, fully organic composites—made from fruit peels, coffee grounds, and other natural byproducts. Because they contain no plastics or harmful chemicals, you can easily repair, repurpose, or return them to the earth without specialized tools.
1. Repair at Home
Small tears, cracks, or softening areas can often be fixed with gentle heat.
- For rips or holes: Place parchment paper over the damaged area and apply light pressure with a warm iron or heat press for 5–10 seconds.
- For reshaping or smoothing: Use a roller or press while the material is warm, then let it cool flat.
- For adjusting flexibility: Alternate between warm and cool temperatures—heat makes the surface more pliable, while cooling re-stiffens it.
Tip: Because our materials are naturally derived, each piece may respond slightly differently. Experiment gently before applying full heat.
2. Reuse and Repurpose
If your material has reached the end of its intended use, it can be given new life.
- Coasters & Sheets: Cut and reseal edges with heat to make tags, ornaments, or sample swatches.
- Pigment-based surfaces: Lightly sand and coat with a natural wax or sealant to extend life or create texture.
- Scraps or broken pieces: Grind into fine powder or cut into small pieces and mix into soil, compost, or biodegradable craft projects.
3. Recycle or Compost
Because Ecosphere Organics semi-finished materials are made entirely from organic raw materials, they can be safely composted.
- Break materials into small pieces to speed decomposition.
- Add them to a home compost bin or soil mix with adequate moisture and oxygen.
- Avoid landfilling—every piece can re-enter the natural cycle.
4. Things to Keep in Mind
- These are semi-finished materials, designed for experimentation, prototyping, and low-impact use.
- Avoid harsh cleaners or solvents. A damp cloth or mild soap is all that’s needed.
- Color and texture may evolve over time—this natural patina reflects the organic ingredients within each piece.
Circular by Design
Every Ecosphere Organics material is built for circularity—made to be repaired, reused, or returned to nature.
By caring for your materials thoughtfully, you’re helping close the loop on waste and proving that sustainability starts at home.
